Why ProGo? - For many projects, and especially those requiring formal quotation from vendors, a lack of an appropriate basic starting framework usually leads to a delay the start-up phase and contributes to poorly-defined specifications creating a life-time of woes for project. Despite recent modest advances in project predictability, the reality is that far too many software and integration projects (large and small) fail to deliver due to the absence of such a suitable foundation. We believe we can help.

Our basic philosophy behind ProGo was that project documentation is critical for effective delivery for most projects (but even the best documentation doesn’t deliver a line of code) so why not develop a product that makes it easier to produce more effective documentation, faster. Our objective in developing ProGo was to provide Project and Program Managers with a basic framework which covered all essential activities involved in the specification and delivery of a major project, along with clear guidelines and a single, consistent example across the template suite. It was important to us that we would not mandate any particular process but that customers should be able to integrate existing templates into the product. It was also important to us that price should not be a significant factor preventing use of the templates. On the basis that half-a-day would be the minimum time that might be spent by the Project team in setting up or customising project templates, we decided to set a target retail price for a single-user at no more than the cost of half-a-day for a typical contract Project Manager.

While the target market for ProGo is the independent contract Project Manager and Business Analyst we would like to make it clear that we do not see ProGo as any substitute for professional training and accreditation. While we are critical of those who trumpet the individuality of their own processes at the expense of practical competency we are strong supporters of professional development and believe that formal professional accreditation is the logical progression for the industry.

So if you are looking for a set of templates that:

  • Are not encumbered by any quasi-religious doctrine as to the virtues of one process over another.
  • Do not mandate any particular set of tools or processes.
  • Come with a sophisticated environment that provides automated support for integration with their own templates and practices.

Then ProGo was developed for you. We have invested in creating comprehensive templates and a easy to use software tool to help you get started from day one. Documentation is important, but ProGo gives you the advantage of selecting and customising what needs to be completed, when it needs to be completed, and by whom.
